Level 1

(Beginner Intermediate)

Level 1 introduces foundational training in Bollywood singing, focusing on essential techniques such as breath control, pitch accuracy, and vocal clarity. Students begin to explore the rich diversity of Bollywood music—from romantic ballads to upbeat dance numbers.

Vocal Techniques & Exercises

  • Breathing & Posture: Learn diaphragmatic breathing and proper singing posture to support voice production, sustain long melodic lines, and enhance tonal clarity.

  • Warm-up: Practice essential vocal warm-ups including akar, humming, sargam patterns, and meend (glides) to build flexibility and vocal strength.

  • Pitch Control: Develop your ear and pitch precision through Indian solfege (Sargam) and swar recognition

Songs

The repertoire includes popular Bollywood songs suitable for beginners. Students will work on songs by both male and female playback singers, focusing on basic vocal skills like tone, breath control, and diction. They will also begin interpreting lyrics with emotion and clarity while learning the stylistic nuances of Bollywood singing.

Music Theory

  • Understand the basics of Taal (rhythm cycles) and use Metronome for timing.

  • Learn about Raags and their moods, and how they influence Bollywood compositions.

  • Introduction to scales used in Bollywood music including major and minor tonalities.

  • Explore simple harmony concepts and the role of chords in Bollywood arrangements.

Assessments

Regular assessments help track progress, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and provide targeted feedback. Students receive guidance on technique, expression, and song interpretation.

Level 2

(Intermediate Advanced)

Level 2 deepens the student’s vocal abilities by introducing advanced techniques, expanding range, and emphasizing performance artistry. This level challenges students with more demanding Bollywood compositions and expressive vocal delivery.

Expanding range: Build vocal strength and range through structured practice in chest, head, and mixed voice. Students learn smooth transitions and proper techniques to handle challenging high and low notes, essential for Bollywood playback-style singing.

Advanced Techniques: Master key Bollywood vocal embellishments like murki, taan, gamaka, and controlled vibrato. Learn how to sing with emotion, project voice in live performance settings, and execute complex dynamic shifts in songs.

Songs: Level 2 songs are more complex and emotionally layered, selected from classic and contemporary Bollywood hits. Students refine their expression, agility, and control, learning to handle fast-paced lyrics, rapid note changes, and varied moods—romantic, dramatic, soulful, or celebratory.

Music Theory: Learn the theory of chord construction, Triads and Arpeggios. Learn about transposing songs to different key for vocal comfort.
